Phone numbers: making your assistant ring

Updated in September 2026

For your assistant to pick up, it needs a line. There are two routes: get a Tinos number, or keep yours and forward the calls. The second is the most common, because your customers already know your number.

Keeping your current number

This is the recommended route if you already have a line your customers know. You change nothing on your business cards or your website: your carrier simply hands calls over to your assistant.

Open your assistant page, click the number chip, then Connect my number. Enter your usual number and your carrier, then choose when your assistant should answer. With When I don’t answer, you also set how long your phone rings before Tinos picks up, when your carrier allows it: 20 seconds, about 4 rings, is recommended.

The screen then shows the codes to dial, the ones for your carrier, or the steps to follow in its customer area. On iPhone, it also lists the two settings to check before dialling. Click Test forwarding, then call your usual number from another phone: as soon as your assistant receives the call, the connection is confirmed with the Verified badge. Otherwise, your first real call takes care of it.

Forwarding can be paused whenever you want, with the code given on the same screen.

  • When I don’t answer: your phone rings first, the assistant takes over if you don’t pick up.
  • Instead of my phone: your phone no longer rings, the assistant answers all your calls.

Getting a Tinos number

In the Phone numbers tab, the Add a number button opens the acquisition dialog. You choose the assistant that will answer, and that is all.

Tinos assigns a French landline number, 01 to 05, reserved and activated within seconds. There is nothing for you to file, no carrier form. Coverage is limited to France today, and the screen says so plainly: other countries will follow.

Once the number is ready, the screen confirms that your assistant now answers calls received on it. If no assistant was selected, it invites you to attach one.

A few error cases can appear: no French number available at that moment, service temporarily unavailable, or inactive subscription. They are explicit, and none of them charges you twice.

How many numbers your plan includes

Every plan includes numbers: 1 on Solo, 3 on Team, 5 on Scale. The Usage card on the Overview tells you where you stand.

Beyond that, the dialog does not block you: it offers the Additional number option, at 7 euros per month, cancellable, with a pro rata shown before any charge. You pay the share of the current month, then the monthly amount. The maximum is ten options.

Additional number options currently active can be reviewed and removed from Subscription and billing.

Reading the table

Every row shows the number, its usage, the call forwarding status, and on the left the face of the assistant answering on it. A number with no assistant shows the channel icon instead, and clicking the face opens the assistant page.

The Status column only concerns forwarding from your existing line: Active, Verification in progress or Not connected.

Search accepts a number or an assistant name.

Removing a number

The only row action is Remove the number, under the menu on the right, with confirmation. The number is detached from its assistant and released: it stops ringing, and it cannot be recovered.

This action, like adding a number, is reserved for the account holder. An invited member sees neither the add button nor the row menu.

What does not exist yet

One feature is sometimes expected here, and we would rather say plainly where it stands.

SIP connection to a third-party carrier is not open in production. Until it is, the matching screen is not offered: we do not show a form that would lead nowhere. Call forwarding covers the same need today.
